Magnolia delavayi is a species of evergreen Magnolia native to southern China. Hardy to about minus 15 degrees C and tolerant of alkaline soils. Flowers in summer but unfortunately each flower only lasting a day. This tree at Batsford arboretum was covered in big flower buds about to open.
