One camera with one lens for general photography, is the macro as good?
Conclusion... Unfortunately for general photography I think the standard 50mm f1.8 lens has a slight edge over the Nikon f2.8 macro lens (but only just). Its also slower and more bulky. What about the difference in the field between a 60mm and 100mm macro? I would go with the longer lens in most situations unless a wider field of view is essential.
